Eats and Feats

Happy weekend! I hope you’ve had a fantastic one, despite the awful weather!

I meant to post on Friday, as per usual, but was stuck in a bit of a scrum at the time…

And yesterday I was recovering from a completely mental day, which included hitch hiking through flood water on the back of a trailer, running around Royal Marines throwing and catching sandbags like they were filled with feathers and interviewing the Prime Minister in knee deep water while wearing completely unwaterproof shoes (me, not the PM, he was in sensible wellies)…

Work wise, last week was busy but fulfilling. There were further redundancies, some close to me, and that was and still is incredibly difficult to deal with. My approach is now to make the most of every moment I have in this crazy, intense, stressful yet awesome position. I’m not sure how much longer it will last.

Moving away from work and on to food and workouts! I’ve been finding my balance this week and have definitely seen an improvement in terms of bloating and weight, despite not having much of a chance to workout.

Here’s what I’ve been up to:

Feats

In terms of workouts, this week has been all about running around for work and not a single run, which does make me sad. Still, I fitted in what I could when I could. The majority of my workouts have been walking, because I can keep tabs on my Blackberry, answer the phone and run errands at the same time.

I planned to do a full set of blogilates and a run on Saturday but after one video, I had to stop. My arms and legs were shaking and couldn’t hold my body up at all – apparently walking 6 miles through flood water in non-waterproof shoes lugging 55lbs of kit destroyed me more than I thought.

This morning’s gym visit was lovely though, it felt good to get my sweat on and not check the clock or answer my phone.

Thurs: Walk 5 miles

Sat: blogilates: Train like a beast, Walk 6 miles

Sun: Cross trainer 65 mins

  1. Your work is so tough!
    I love Starbucks cinnamon rolls- they are such a treat but they are so good.
    There is loads of flooding near me so most of the smaller country roads are closed but my house is fine and my journey to work is along mainly dual carriageways and they are fine so have not been too bad- the poor people with flooded homes must be struggling so much as the rain is still coming.

  2. Yay for you having a Pulsin bar again- my fave! I can’t believe the weather, we haven’t been affected at all, but it’s shocking to see the rest of the country.

    I went to run club on Thursday lunchtime and that was awful in the rain, but I made it through!

    The Starbucks at Larnaca seafront does an awesome baked cheesecake that I’ve never seen a UK Starbucks, so good!

  4. We had to miss a family gathering today for snow, bummer! But all in all, it’s been a nice day inside so I can’t complain.

  5. Wow sounds so full on! I really hope you remain unaffected by the redundancy. My fingers are crossed for you. They would be mad to get rid of you.
    I don’t really eat anything at coffee shops…I just tend to get take away coffees. I guess if I had to choose anything it’d probably be a big old fat cake :D
