Hello and a happy er Thursday to you! Many apologies this is a day this week, my work life balance hasn’t really existed this week. I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been up to tomorrow but for now, let’s pretend it’s yesterday and be all about the food!
These are my eats from Saturday, which was a fun day for a number of reasons. The beginning featured Parkrun and another Bristol blogger, the middle seeing my lovely mummy and the end snuggled on the sofa with the boys (James and Mo) enjoying some yummy treats. Perfect!
So as I said, it started with Parkrun. I’d ran seven miles unexpectedly (you know when you feel awesome and don’t want to stop?) on Friday evening so was feeling a little sore when we arrived.
I ended up making my way round on my own as the boys were being competitive. I was running down the hill when I spotted the lovely and inspirational Em making her way up. I ran over to her to see if she wanted to tackle the rest of the course with a running buddy but after a few strides it became apparent that I’m not a very good pacer (especially with my constant chattering haha) so we split. I decided to continue running up the hill, which meant my slowest Parkrun time but my longest Parkrun distance of 3.8 miles!
Breakfast: Coyo and frozen berries
Ah my go to breakfast, perfect after getting hot and sweaty! After breakfast, I rushed to pick up some cake and papers, get showed and ready before my Mum arrived. We decided to head out for coffee as our landlord came round to fix our leaky bathroom (oh the joys of living in an old building!).
Snack: spiced raisin and honey cake, coffee
I think I could eat an entire cake of this, it tasted incredible! Mum and I headed to Arch House Deli for our cakes and coffee and were so impressed (as always). We ended up staying longer than anticipated as we were chatting so much,
Then it was on to shopping. We spent hours just pottering around Clifton, dreamily admiring clothes at some fancy shops (I’d like an entire Maison Scotch wardrobe please). We were so engrossed with shopping we couldn’t believe it when we spotted it was 4.30 – way past time for lunch!
Lunch: Salad, beetroot, potato and spinach frittata
We went to Spicer + Cole, a new cafe that’s just opened in Clifton. The food was completely fabulous and so filling, my slice was massive! We ended up chatting here for another hour, lots to catch up on!
After lunch, we met up with James and headed into the city centre for a spot of realistic shopping – Marks and Spencer tights and socks, we know our spending limits haha!
At 8pm, we arrived back at the flat and bid a sad farewell to Mum, before cracking on with dinner.
Dinner: spinach and lentil burger, lettuce wrap, salad, avocado, apple cider vinegar dressing
One day I’ll eat a dinner that’s out of the ordinary on WIAW but today is not that day! Easy, quick, nutritious and delicious – why change?
James and I watched TV for the rest of the evening, it was so nice to have a rest after all our marching around. Clearly a few treats were needed
Dessert: raw chocolate, dates, nut butter (plus lots more from the jar, the nut butter monster was rampant!)
Raw chocolate, dates, nut butter. Pretty much my favourite foods on one plate – soo good! James and I also indulged in…
I’d say we only had a few sweets each but let’s be honest – we ate the bag between us! Seriously, I’d love to find anyone with the willpower not to, those sweets are insanely good!
* Distance or speed?
* What would be on your ultimate dessert plate?
I think mine is above!
