Today has been.. interesting and can be summed up like this:
That’s my Poundland umbrella finally admitting defeat after we fought a brave battle against the elements this morning. I was soaked through by the time I reached court, then I had to stand in the pouring rain for 15 minutes to go through the security scanners.
The tone for the rest of the day was set by that moment and I’m feeling pretty destroyed right now. Not enough to abstain from the fun food frenzy that is WIAW, you guys know how much I love my food!
I was debating whether to post yesterday’s eats because it wasn’t my finest culinary hour but decided I should for that reason – no one is perfect when it comes to food and I should be honest about my off days.
So Tuesday started at 6am when I jumped out of bed, into the shower, ran to grab the papers and got stuck into work. A very rushed breakfast was ‘enjoyed’ a few hours later.
Breakfast: Coyo, frozen berries, Pulsin protein bar
Breakfast was a super quick affair when I arrived in Exeter (a 2.5 hour drive, the joy) and did the trick, though frozen berries are less fun to munch through when you’re pushed for time!
My breakfast held me over for the case I covered in Exeter and the drive back to Bristol (another 2.5 hours). As soon as I reached home I was ready to eat!
Lunch: Apple, almond butter + more from the jar, coffee
It was a super quick and not very satisfying lunch because I was called to a case in Bristol, meaning I had to pack everything up and rush down to the court. I planned to buy something there when but the cafe was closed when I arrived.
I searched out my bag for options and found something delicious but not exactly a stranger..
Snack: Pulsin protein bar
It was less fun eating the bar the second time but it did the trick and powered me through the rest of work and the 3 mile walk home. Up hills. Carrying all my kit. It was a killer! I met James at the shops and we went straight home for a gorgeous dinner.
Dinner: Chicken with olives and tomato sauce, salad, avocado, apple cider vinegar dressing
I almost cried with happiness when we sat down to eat this, the chicken was absolutely fab paired with the creamy avocado and I love the tang of the ACV salad dressing.
I had so much more work to do so began working my way through a long transcript. It was painful and I needed some encouragement to keep me going..
Dessert: Dates, almond butter, fizzy sweets (not pictured)
I have a problem with dates and almond butter, I just can’t go a day without it! The fizzy sweets were Halloween sours and tasted incredible! James and I polished off a 130g bag between us, they gave me the instant sugar buzz I needed to keep writing late into the night.
Then came the point (11pm), where only one thing would do..
Snack: Two 44g raw chocolate truffle bars
I can’t tell you how insanely delicious these bars were. Like, the best truffles I’ve ever tasted. Lemon and maple syrup with cashew in a chocolate truffle? So, so good! The glorious hit of chocolate pushed me through to the finish a short time later.
So there you have my eats. Not enough real food, too much sugar and nut butter but what worked on the day!
* What food could you eat more than once a day?
* What’s the best chocolate you’ve ever eaten?
