Oh three day weekends, I love you to infinity and beyond.
We’ve had such a lovely time over the past three days, lots of sleeping and the aforementioned eating. Actually, as I was looking back through the pictures from our adventures I realised pretty much every shot was something I stuffed in my mouth – so be prepared!
As it is Monday, I’m joining in with the marvellous party at Healthy Diva Life by showing you all the exciting things I’ve been up to since the clock struck 7pm on Friday.
Here we go!
Friday night is fajita night in our house. It felt so good to tuck in to about a million of these beauties. I love cooking the veggies and chicken in coconut oil, it makes the kitchen smell gorgeous!
A little someone wanted fajitas too but had to make do with cuddles instead. He wasn’t overly chuffed!
Parkrun wasn’t on the agenda this week as we’ve both been under the weather but I woke up feeling optimistic and decided to go alone. Happily, our friend Dave – who came with us for his first time last week – had decided to go again so I had a partner in crime!
We matched each other perfectly pace-wise until the last mile, when he shaved 20 seconds off my time. That’s 20 seconds off my 6.33 minute mile, by the way! My finish time was 25:39, 93rd out of 219, 16th lady and first in my age group, which I was happy with considering feeling so awful!
James and I celebrated with sushi at Yume.
… tuna and salmon and avocado rolls. Not sure why I photographed it at such a weird angle though..
After stuffing our faces with sushi we headed home and had a gloriously relaxed afternoon and evening. It felt so good to veg out!
Of course running = cake.
I seriously can’t get enough of these slices. They’re made by a local man in Bristol so I feel even better about eating them.
Gorgeous dinner, wrapped in a lettuce bun as everything I make is these days!
We woke up feeling energised by our restful Saturday and decided to head to Ikea. We didn’t really need anything but fancied a long walk – the eight mile round trip was perfect, with lots of interesting things to look at on the way.
I usually order cake when we go to Ikea but this summer vegetable soup was calling me instead (weird, I know!). It tasted fab, lots of crunchy vegetables and gave me enough energy to power round the shop.
We picked up a few chopping boards and an organiser for the wardrobe – I’ve saved you the boring picture
As we left, we saw the food shop was selling pick ‘n’ mix and of course had to get in on the action. Amazingly, we managed to hold off until we reached home then dug in!
Liquorice fudge was so good, along with an apple pencil and lots of gummy sweets. Again, I craved something healthier so let James finish off the rest while I dug into an old favourite..
It totally hit the spot!
After munching, we embarked on a massive sort out of the flat. We attacked wardrobes that have remained shut since moving in and amassed a satisfying amount of rubbish and charity shop fodder. So much better!
Dinner was another good one. Lentil and spinach burger, sweet potato fries, feta cheese, salad and sprouts with a fabulously ripe avocado. I managed to serve James his chip portion properly but kept missing my plate, causing most of mine to fall to the floor. There may have been a little angry shouting at the spatula.
No one gets between me and my sweet potato chips!
We enjoyed dinner with Annie Hall, a Woody Allen film I haven’t seen before. It was great to see, especially when enjoyed with a snack plate.
I totally needed the extra day of rest and woke up feeling refreshed. So refreshed that I pulled on my running shoes and cracked out 8.26 miles! My run was great and left me feeling a lot more confident about the Bristol Half Marathon in less than three weeks (eek).
The rest of the days has been filled with eating, shopping and lots of relaxing – perfect before a hectic rest-of-the-week starting at 6am tomorrow.
James bought me a special present, which I inhaled after my run.
My favourite macaroons! Lemon, lime and mint and toffee. So tasty
Hope you’ve had a fab weekend and Bank Holiday too!
* UK people – did you do anything special with your extra day off?
* How do you celebrate the end of the week?
Fajitas on, pomegranate cordial in hand and trash tv for me
