Happy Friday! I’m doing a big happy dance for a number of reasons – especially because of the extra day off!
And the knowledge that the weekend is here and that means lots of time to sleep and…
… stuff my face (thanks for the demonstration Mo!)
This week has been hard. Work has been crazy – I haven’t slept past 6am every day – and although my efforts mostly paid off with lots of coverage in the papers, they left me exhausted and short of time for anything.
Cooking, cleaning, exercising, sleeping and relaxing have all been left by the wayside this week. I felt pretty emotional through the week as well (thanks to the blessing of girlie problems!!!!), there were quite a few tears and stressful moments.
Here’s the good stuff I got up to:
Monday morning consisted of a two hour drive to a complicated court case. I bought myself a few treats to boost the 7am drive (and 5.30am start urgh!).
Swanky water for the journey (I took the picture before I set off obviously..)
I also tried Fruyo, from Fage who make the gorgeous Total greek yoghurts. This cherry flavour tasted delicious – creamy and decadent. I’d buy again but I do have a penchant for yogs that are super thick. If I can’t stand a fork up in it, it isn’t good enough!
Salmon, salad, asparagus and olives was a great pick me up at the end of the day too.
Smoothies don’t really work very well when attempted with a hand blender. I tried to make a green smoothie on Tuesday. It was a monster fail, though I think the flavours (apple, spinach, kiwi and coriander) would have been fine if done properly.
Super salad with sprouts, spinach, avocado, tomato, apple cider vinegar dressing with a side of sauerkraut. It was so nice to have a proper, healthy lunch!
I was so disappointed by the morning’s smoothie I went to Zumo and picked up my favourite apple, carrot and ginger juice. Super large style. Yum!
I have a new obsession for breakfast…
… coyo! I bought a huge tub of the plain flavour and have been enjoying it with fresh organic raspberries and frozen berries. Simply stunning.
I was pretty chuffed as I found a big tub 20% off! Coyo isn’t the cheapest so this was a happy find.
I attempted to make sushi. It kind of worked! This was quinoa and veggies with soy sauce and tasted fab. I have the recipe coming so keep your eyes peeled! P.s. any sushi rolling tips greatly appreciated!
Girlie times mean serious chocolate cravings. And you don’t get much more serious than these gorgeous bars. I’ve had a minimum requirement of one a day, no kidding.
This week hasn’t been fantastic exercise-wise, plus I suddenly realised my half marathon is three weeks away. Scary times but I’m hoping under rather than over training will win again (reference Edinburgh).
Something scary happened yesterday. I attempted to go for two runs in one day (had a crazy amount of energy in the afternoon so decided to try it for the first time). I felt fantastic and was loving it then had the worst asthma attack I’ve had in years.
I’d stupidly forgotten my inhaler and by the time I’d crawled home I was dizzy, sick and shaking all over. Not pleasant at all.
Tues: 45 minutes steady-state cross trainer
Thurs: 4.17 mile run, then 1.25 mile run
Fri: Jillian Michael’s Yoga Meltdown level one
Non-workout feats are much more impressive!
Our window growing efforts are looking good…
Also, as you could tell from the picture at the beginning of this post, someone has been more friendly (it’s only taken three months!).
He loves coming out and getting comfy in his secret hiding place when I’m ready for bed..
Can you spot him?
Caught in the act.
Hope you have a brilliant weekend, I’ll be eating my bodyweight in chocolate and sleeping for most of it! We also have plans to go for some proper sushi tomorrow, my poor rolls will be put to shame.
