Happy err.. Thursday! I meant to write this post on Monday but we had the most action-packed weekend and the start of my week was hectic too. Hectic and the first two days were.. not great.
Monday morning started by being stung by two wasps in my car as I drove down the motorway and believe me, that was the highlight of my day. Luckily things have improved as the week has danced on.
As I completely missed out on my usual MIMM post, I’m going to recap last weekend for you today, just in time to look forward to the next! It was a slightly novel weekend as we saw so many friends, I feel like I definitely had my fill of social time for a while!
Still, it was so, so nice to catch up with people and get dressed up to party
Of course there were many many of these:
Love our tradition of fajita Friday, though we’re beginning to think it would be more sensible to do it on a Saturday as we always feel super stuffed when we do parkrun in the morning but then we look forward to it all week. Dilemma!
After eating a crazy amount of fajitas, we donned our glad rags and went into town to meet up with some friends at Canteen. It was great to see everyone and the evening ended very classily, with us both scoffing Haribo in our smart clothes
Our friend Dave joined us for his first ever parkrun! It was so exciting to bring a new runner to the group and I found we matched perfectly pace for pace as we steamed around the course.
I followed Dave’s lead and we managed 9:20, 8:38 and a speedy 6:57 final mile. Here’s the depressing thing (for me!) – as we ran the final mile I jokingly said “wow, 6:57, we can sprint now”. Obviously I was already sprinting pretty much flat out. Dave replied “oh, we can?” and absolutely belted it to the finish line. It was seriously impressive!
My finishing time was 25:41, not a PB but still a time I’m proud of. James had speedy legs and knocked almost a minute off my time. Damn those tall boys and their long legs!
After parkrun I headed to the shops and grabbed the most delicious organic cherries.
Bursting with flavour, yum!
We headed into town to meet a friend and went to the Watershed for lunch. I stuck with soup but James was very impressed with his steak sandwich.
Even when I stole his salad haha!
I treated myself to a bag of my favourite yoghurt-covered raisins from the Watershed.
Perfect with a coffee made with James’ fancy espresso machine (the love of my life – after the boyfriend and Mo of course.. and nut butter!).
We went out again to celebrate our friends’ wedding and it was so much fun getting dolled up. I loved spending time with friends I hadn’t seen for a while, so much so that I missed a slice of wedding cake as I was so engrossed talking!
We didn’t take any pictures during the event so you have a classy shot of me by the stairs as we left. Even more classy? The fact I wore my North Face coat there and back – well, it was raining!
We awoke surprisingly early and I jumped out of bed to grab papers, which we enjoyed with a delicious breakfast.
I heart coyo and fresh cherries. Total luxury
It was then time to head into town again for some browsing round the shops. Via a few unseen Gromits of course!
I actually felt dizzy and sick as we walked around so grabbed a juice from Zumo, carrot apple and ginger.
It perked me up and I spent a few hours looking through the library by myself while James watched the football. I found a familiar face there.
Apples balanced with a side of cake when I returned home.. that’s how it works, right?!
We went for a little walk around Clifton to stretch our legs and the light was beautiful.
Gorgeous salmon and lots of seeds for tea!
Followed by some much needed raw choc, dates and nut butter.
It was an action-packed weekend and I was exhausted by the end, being under the weather didn’t help either. Usually our weekends are pretty quiet due to our manic jobs (I’m almost done with people by Friday afternoon after spending a week non-stop talking!) so this was a nice change – though I definitely felt it!
* How social are your weekends?
* What’s your favourite juice recipe?
Apple, carrot and ginger is great but I love apple, watercress and beetroot too!
